FLSA Exemption Basics In this presentation, we will cover commonly used exemptions to the Fair Labor Standards Act. We will discuss the required salary and duties of exempt workers, best practices for ensuring compliance, and the risks of non-compliance. Participants will gain a better understanding of when and how workers are properly classified as exempt from minimum wage and overtime requirements.

SPEAKER BIO

Nicole LeFave is a Shareholder at Littler Mendelson, P.C. in Austin, Texas. She concentrates her practice on the Fair Labor Standards Act and wage and hour class and collective action defense and advising employers on all aspects of wage and hour compliance. Nicole also defends employers on a variety of wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and corporate whistleblower matters and advises on a broad range of employment matters, from hiring through termination.
